Nanjing port salmon imports are growing rapidly

According to the statistics of Nanjing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in the first half of this year, 99 batches of imported salmon from Nanjing Port, 261.2 tons, increased by 265% and 269% respectively. This year, unlike the import of whole salmon in the past, the import of fish fillets has been increased to better meet market demand. As the only import port for chilled aquatic products in the province, Nanjing Lukou Airport imported salmon for the first time since January last year. The import volume has increased year by year. The main importing countries are Chile, Britain and Australia.

Salmon can be directly eaten raw and cooked, and it is rich in nutrients and delicious in meat. It is more and more popular among the public and the demand is gradually increasing. Salmon is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which can effectively reduce blood lipids and blood cholesterol, and prevent cardiovascular diseases. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish are essential for the brain, retina and nervous system, and have the effects of enhancing brain function, preventing senile dementia and preventing vision loss. At the end of 2014, Nanjing Lukou International Airport was officially approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine as the designated port for imported chilled aquatic products. The total cold storage capacity of the airport is 750 tons, and 500 square meters of office space and ice can be provided at the airport cargo terminal. Fresh water products provide a check-up library for fresh-keeping and cold storage conditions. Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu Nanjing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has adopted the E-ciq supervision and sampling inspection method for imported foods in accordance with the requirements of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The inspection sampling volume has been greatly reduced, the customs clearance speed has been greatly improved, and the on-going inspection, side inspection, etc. Measures have promoted the import of chilled aquatic products. The salmon imported from the Nanjing port generally takes only two days from the importing country to the public table. The freshness can be greatly assured.
