St. Petersburg, Russia bans the entry of 24 tons of Chinese fish

2017-09-22

Russian health authorities have banned the import of 24 tons of Chinese fish.

According to a recent report by the local media “Neva News Network” in St. Petersburg, Russia, a number of fish products imported from China were intercepted while trying to move into St. Petersburg, the capital of northern Russia.

The report revealed that the decision to ban imports was made by the Russian Federation of Animal and Plant Health Supervision. The Russian health supervision department said that when the customs in St. Petersburg had inspected the Chinese imported fish, they found violations, so they were seized.

According to Russian media, the total weight of imported Chinese fish is 24 tons, which are Mingtai fish fillets and squid. When the staff of the health supervision department inspected it, it was found that the number on the packaging of the imported fish did not match the number on the health and quarantine certificate, and it was suspected that the actual quarantine document was used to smuggle other products.

At present, the 24 tons of fish have been confiscated and the importers and related responsible persons are being investigated.

Cases in which imported goods imported from China use forged documents or use real documents to import untested goods are often exposed by the Russian media. In February of this year, 80 tons of Chinese fish were pretending to be imported from Spain and seized.

According to the Russian Communist Youth League Pravda reported on February 17, the health and epidemic prevention department of the port of St. Petersburg, Russia, found that the 80 tons of fish were actually Chinese fish posing and the quality was poor.

Although the imported documents and the fish packaging indicate that this is a Spanish-made fish, during the inspection process, it was found that the quality inspection of these imported fish was issued in China and was also marked with the words “Fuqing Xingang Aquatic Food Co., Ltd.”. .

Imported Chinese fish has recently become a sensitive topic in Russia. Even in the direct dialogue between President Putin and the people in 2016, there was a worker from a fish processing factory in the Far East Sakhalin State. Why are we at the seaside? However, the problem of fish imported from almost all of China has been processed, making Putin speechless.

Alexander Bundali, director of the Russian fish processing plant, commented on this issue: "The high quality fish products produced in Russia are exported to Europe and the United States, which is also the result of the inability to compete with the low prices of Chinese fish products. It is impossible for a good product to have an ultra-low price and cannot compete with low-quality and adulterated products."

After the Russian media continued to expose the falsification of Chinese fish products containing hormones, water and freezing, the reputation of Chinese fish is very low, and the Russian quality inspection department has also intensified inspections.
