Zhejiang Hangzhou Airport Port welcomes the first batch of Western Australia Red Dragons

2017-08-07

Recently, a group of Western Australian Red Dragons from Australia, weighing 600 kilograms and worth $35,550, entered the airport at Hangzhou Airport. This is the first time that the Hangzhou Port has imported the Western Australian Red Dragon. It is also a brand new variety imported from Australia after the abalone, crystal crab, Australian dragon, emperor crab and champagne crab.

The Western Australian Red Dragon, also known as the Western Australian Rock Lobster, is mainly distributed in the western Australian waters. Although it is not famous for its Australian dragon, it is one of Australia's most valuable aquatic products, accounting for 20% of the Australian seafood industry. Western Australia Red Dragon has the characteristics of large body fat, fresh meat and high nutritional value. Compared with Aulong, Red Dragon has similar taste but lower price and higher cost performance. Once in the domestic seafood market, it may be more popular with consumers and has a very large market potential.

It is reported that Hangzhou Airport has been more and more welcomed by importing enterprises since it was qualified by the AQSIQ to import aquatic animals at designated ports in 2016. The quantity and variety of imported goods are also increasing year by year. As of July 20 this year, Hangzhou Airport Port entered a total of 687 batches of aquatic animals, a total of 548.7 tons, valued at 9.799 million US dollars, an increase of 62.41%, 42.63%, 38.63%. The smooth entry of the Western Australian Red Dragon has enriched the aquatic products in Hangzhou and added new options to consumers.
