Chilean aquaculture production fell by 16%

According to the Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Information of Chile, as of October this year, Chile's aquaculture production reached 768,000 tons, a 16% decrease from the first 10 months of 2015.


The main aquatic products in Chile are Atlantic salmon, mussels and rainbow trout, which contributed 54.2%, 30.9% and 7.6% of the total output value respectively.


In the first 10 months of this year, the total catch of Chile’s capture fisheries was 517,000 tons, a figure that was 20.1% lower than the same date in 2015.
